Unidentified gunmen attacked a branch of the Living Faith Church Worldwide on the Lokoja-Okene route in Kogi State’s Adavi Local Government Council.
During the weekend, the kidnappers broke into the church and kidnapped some of its members.
At least three people were kidnapped.
The intruders allegedly shot randomly to frighten bystanders away before whisking the victims away to an unknown location.
Joseph Omuya Salami, Chairman of the Adavi Local Government Council, confirmed the situation to newsmen on Monday evening through Habeeb Jamiu, his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity.
According to him, the chairman had visited the spot with the Osara Division’s Divisional Police Officer (DPO) since the event.
Habeeb Jamiu went on to say that the council was working with local security officers to ensure that the victims were rescued safely.
As of press time, CSP Williams Ovye Aya, the Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, had not returned calls for comment.
