On behalf of the Federal Government, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, Minister of Interior, verified this.

Aregbesola congratulated all Muslim faithful, both at home and abroad, for being present at this year’s event.

He urged all Nigerians to “imbibe the spirit of love, patience, and perseverance that are the virtues of the Holy Prophet Muhammad,” saying that doing so will ensure the country’s peace and stability.

This was revealed in a statement signed by Dr. Shuaib Belgore, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, on Friday.

“Ogbeni Aregbesola admonished Nigerians, particularly Muslims, to avoid from violence, lawlessness, and other acts of criminality,” the statement reads. We must demonstrate responsible leadership in Africa as the undeniable leader of our race.

While calling for an end to all divisive tendencies across the country, the Minister encourages all Nigerians, particularly the youth, to embrace the virtues of hard work and a peaceful disposition toward fellow humans, regardless of faith, ideology, social class, or ethnicity, and to work with President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration to build a progressive and enviable nation that all citizens can be proud of.”
