Sunday Adeyemo (Igboho), a Yoruba Nation activist, is currently fighting renal and lung problems in prison, according to his lawyer Yomi Alliyu.
Aliyyu has pleaded with the government of Benin Republic to release Igboho for medical treatment in another country.

In an interview with BBC Yoruba, he stated the illness afflicting Igboho was serious and that he needed prayers as well as medical attention.
The illness began, according to the lawyer, when the Department of State Services raided Igboho’s home in the Soka neighborhood of Ibadan, Oyo State.
“Igboho had not been diagnosed with this illness when he was detained in Cotonou,” he claimed. They had to rush him to the hospital since it was so serious.
“I’m not sure if he’s been released from the hospital, but what I do know is that he’s in poor health, and it appears like his kidneys and lungs are already failing.”
I know the ailment has something to do with his internal organs, even though I can’t see which portion of his body it has damaged.”
According to Alliyu, the illness began after Department of State Services officers raided Igboho’s home and while the activist was attempting to flee the raid.
Meanwhile, Ibrahim Salami, Igboho’s lawyer in the Benin Republic, verified that Igboho was hurt during the DSS raid.
“Sunday Igboho is not sick,” Salami added, “but he was hurt during a DSS raid on his house on July 1, 2021.”
“Since then, he has not received proper medical attention, and his condition has deteriorated, which is why he requested to be transferred abroad for medical examination.”
