Reece James remains dedicated to aiding Chelsea in their quest to re-establish themselves as Premier League title contenders, unfazed by the interest from Manchester City and Real Madrid.

Having signed a six-year contract in 2022, James was appointed Chelsea captain this summer under the management of Mauricio Pochettino. The 23-year-old right-back is widely recognized as one of the premier players in his position globally.

While Manchester City has long admired James’ development, particularly in light of the impending need to replace the 33-year-old Kyle Walker, there are no indications that the Premier League champions are actively pursuing a deal for the Chelsea skipper at present.

On the other hand, sources have confirmed to 90min that Real Madrid holds a genuine interest in James. With 31-year-old Dani Carvajal aging, Carlo Ancelotti’s team is seeking a younger right-back, and the Chelsea star is considered one of Madrid’s preferred targets for the position.

Despite the awareness of interest from both teams, James is reportedly fully committed to the Chelsea project and is not entertaining the notion of departing the club.

James has firmly dismissed the possibility of transferring to a direct Premier League competitor like City. He is not considering a move abroad in the near future, as his primary aspirations lie in achieving success with Chelsea.

James envisions guiding Chelsea to victory in various competitions, especially as the team’s captain. His immediate goals involve returning to peak performance following a challenging 12 months marked by injuries.

Last season, James only made 16 Premier League appearances, and a hamstring issue in the current season’s opening game sidelined him for over two months. However, having recently started in Chelsea’s last two matches, he has played a crucial role in the team’s positive turn of events.

In the most recent games, Chelsea triumphed over Tottenham Hotspur with a 4-1 scoreline and secured a thrilling 4-4 draw against City over the weekend. James is now determined to capitalize on this form, contributing to Chelsea’s climb back up the league standings.
