Manchester United’s captain, Bruno Fernandes, answered back, leveling the score for the visitors with a roof-of-the-net finish after a setup from Alejandro Garnacho. In the second half, Bournemouth remained assertive, but Fernandes struck again, converting a penalty into the bottom right corner after a handball call against Adam Smith.
In the dying moments, Bournemouth’s Ryan Christie believed he had won a stoppage-time penalty after being tripped by Kambwala, but VAR overturned the decision, determining the foul occurred just outside the 18-yard box.
