“Karim Benzema is undergoing further examinations in Real Madrid’s clinic with his former doctor in Spain, who supervised his care in previous years,” Al Ittihad stated in a press release.

These consultations were facilitated through collaboration between Ittihad’s medical team and Real Madrid regarding Benzema’s injuries, which have sidelined him from crucial matches this season. Benzema has already departed for Spain and is expected to return next week.

In addition to his injury woes, Benzema’s first season with Al Ittihad has been marked by transfer speculations. During the January transfer window, he was heavily linked with a return to Europe amidst reports of a rift with Al Ittihad manager Marcelo Gallardo. However, Benzema publicly expressed his contentment in Saudi Arabia.

Benzema, contracted with Al Ittihad until 2026, boasts an impressive record of 354 goals in 648 appearances for Real Madrid over 14 years, securing four La Liga titles and five Champions League trophies.

This season, Benzema has contributed 13 goals and eight assists in 29 appearances for Al Ittihad, who currently sit fifth in the Saudi Pro League, trailing leaders Al Hilal by a significant 30 points.
