Speaking about how she was able to buy her N75 million house, Mercy Eke said:

MERCY EKE: After coming out of the house and winning the ultimate prize, I had no plans of investing in real estate. That’s why I always tell people: once you have the right people beside you, you will always make the right decisions. So coming out, I can remember coming to this real estate company with Frodd to come and say thank you to Mrs

Ichechi who supported me hugely while I was in the house. So after the whole thing, she was like there is this new place we just built. That time, I had all this ginger in me so I was like okay, I will work, I want to start selling, because I wanted to come out and start doing something. So that was how she took us since we could market. I remember we got to this house, it was beautiful, but there was no plan of buying. In fact, I no get money that time. I never get money. In fact, the first money I got was the $10,000 she gave me in this office, that time they never pay us. So the next day, we took pictures so we can show people that this house is ready if you want to buy. Then that was when I met somewhere there who is my lawyer, and who was a friend to her husband. Then I don’t know how they had a conversation that ‘this house, this girl can buy it o, don’t let her go and chop that money buying clothes and travelling’. The next day my lawyer called me that have they paid you? I said “no, money takes like three, four months before it drops in our account”. He said okay. Then the next thing, Mrs. Ichechi, the lawyer, and her husband did everything, they said ‘You must own a home. Even if we don’t do anything for you, we want to show you the right path.’ And that has been my biggest decision ever. I bought my house for N75 million and right now, that property is not less than $115 million.

Speaking about how she was able to pay off the steep N75 million cost, Mercy elaborated:

MERCY EKE: From the payment plan I was given, it was very flexible for me. It’s like the normal money I spend in doing nothing. That was it. It was very flexible. If I tell you guys, you guys will shout. I was paying sometimes as low as N2 million, and it’s not like monthly, it gives you time and space to take care of yourself, take care of whatever you need, and bring out small one for this. So it’s not like it’s choking you.
