Thomas Tuchel, a former manager of Chelsea, has expressed interest in managing England if the position becomes open following the World Cup.
Less than 18 months after winning the Champions League and four months after the club’s new owners took over, Tuchel was abruptly fired by Chelsea, leaving him jobless.
The German turned down his initial job offer from Bayer Leverkusen after leaving Stamford Bridge last week before deciding on former Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso.

The Telegraph reports that Thomas Tuchel would be open to taking over for Gareth Southgate if the Football Association decided to recruit a new head coach following the World Cup.
The sources claim that there hasn’t been any interaction between the parties and no evidence that Southgate will step down from his post. It’s expected that Southgate’s future would be determined by how well England does at the World Cup after a recent string of dismal performances.
Southgate informed the media last week that he intended to direct the future Euro 2024 qualification campaign. “As of right now, my contract runs through this date in 2024, but I’m also fully aware that in football, you have to have results,” he continued.
So, there is a plan, and there is a need for continuity, but I also don’t take it for granted that you won’t perform poorly and expect to keep your job.
