Erik ten Hag has extended his well wishes to Jadon Sancho following the winger’s loan departure from Manchester United. Sancho has returned to Borussia Dortmund on loan until the end of the season in a bid to revive his career after a public disagreement with Ten Hag in September.
The clash between Ten Hag and Sancho arose when the winger was omitted from the matchday squad against Arsenal. Ten Hag questioned Sancho’s training levels, leading to a social media exchange where Sancho challenged the manager. This refusal to apologize resulted in Sancho being excluded from the first team.
Now that the temporary resolution is in place, Ten Hag expressed his desire to move forward swiftly, stating, “I hope he’s doing well, so I wish him the best of good luck. That’s it. I hope he’s doing well, and he’ll be a success.”

When pressed for a second question on Sancho, Ten Hag firmly reiterated, “I replied [to the previous question], I think it’s enough.”
Sancho’s loan agreement with Dortmund does not include an option for a permanent transfer. Dortmund’s director, Sebastian Kehl, openly acknowledged the financial challenges of such a deal but hinted at a potential revisit in the summer if United’s financial demands are reasonable. Sancho will return to Old Trafford with two years remaining on his contract, and United holds the option to extend it by an additional 12 months.
United remains optimistic that Sancho, who joined for £73 million in 2021, will regain his form and value at Dortmund, where he previously amassed 50 goals and 64 assists in 137 games before his move to Manchester.
