“You can build a squad where the players enjoy themselves on the field, which will rub off on the fans. In the end, a club’s relationship with its fans is most crucial, according to Potter in his first interview as Chelsea’s manager.

“We prefer to play in a balanced, aggressive manner, and players must feel free to express themselves.

“It’s about winning, building a squad that competes, is trustworthy, and cooperates; it combines football and human values.

“You must first recognize that they are people. The most important thing is to comprehend them, their motivations, and who they are as individuals.

“My starting point must always be the person first,” the speaker said. “From that, come to some common ground and build relationships, communicate on a daily basis, build respect, trust, and honesty.”

Recall that Kante was offered a two-year contract by Chelsea with an option to extend it by one more year, but the French midfielder declined the offer because the previous management was prepared to give him a three-year agreement with an extension clause at the end of the third season.

The new owners are quite concerned about N’golo Kante’s injury problems, but a final decision has not been made, and Kante may receive a better offer or become a free agency in the summer of 2019.
