Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya has affirmed the strength of his relationship with teammate Aaron Ramsdale, despite displacing him from the starting lineup this season.
Raya, initially signed on loan from Brentford in August, has become a regular starter for Arsenal in both Premier League and Champions League matches since the first international break, signaling a potential permanent deal. Ramsdale, previously voted into the 2022/23 PFA Team of the Year, has seen reduced playing time and has been linked with a move away in search of more consistent minutes.
In an interview with Arsenal’s website, Raya acknowledged the significance of another goalkeeper joining the club and emphasized his focus on contributing to the team’s success.

“It’s a big thing when another goalie comes to a club,” Raya stated. “Aaron had a magnificent season last year, so I’m just here to help the team win games when the gaffer puts me in.”
Raya spoke positively about his relationship with Ramsdale, highlighting their teamwork in training sessions to improve each other. He emphasized the importance of disregarding external opinions and staying focused on the team’s objectives.
“I’m enjoying every time I go out there, playing football and doing what I love,” Raya expressed. “It’s incredible to be part of this football club, and hopefully, we can fight for the title.”
