Everyone at Manchester United is still committed to advancing the group’s success under Erik ten Hag and collaborating to produce results on the field.
After speaking with Manchester United, Ronaldo reacted with a statement of his own, stating: “Following negotiations, we have mutually agreed to finish our contract early. I adore Manchester United and the supporters, and that won’t ever change. But now seems like the perfect time for me to look for a fresh challenge.
“I wish the team nothing but success for the rest of the year and beyond,”
As Portugal prepares for their opening World Cup game against Ghana on Thursday, Ronaldo is currently in Qatar. In a pre-game press conference, Fernandes was questioned about the departure of his countryman from Old Trafford.
He stated: “For me, it was beneficial while it lasted. We must recognize the fact that Cristiano has changed his course for the sake of his family and career.
“I haven’t spoken with Cris about it. All of our attention is on the World Cup and the national squad. I’m not uneasy at all. I’m not required to choose a side. Playing alongside Cristiano was a dream come true, but nothing lasts forever.
“We are aware of how much Cristiano values the World Cup, where his attention has always been. He chose not to share his choice with me. This is a personal choice that affects him and his family. We haven’t discussed it. The goal, the national team, and the World Cup are all everyone’s attention right now.”
