While Rooney remains United’s all-time leading goalscorer with 253 goals over a 13-season career, Fernandes, at 29 years old, has amassed a notable 72 goals in all competitions for United. Despite facing a challenging spell during the 2023/24 season, his recent strike against Everton, his fourth in the Premier League and seventh overall in all competitions, highlights his enduring impact.
Although Fernandes has experienced a dip in goalscoring compared to his prolific start at Old Trafford, where he netted 40 goals in all competitions in his first 18 months, he continues to be a primary creative force for the team. This comes in response to critics who question his leadership and influence on teammates.
