According to reports, members of Chelsea’s management are currently en route to Lisbon in an effort to reach an agreement before the deadline on Tuesday, much like they did when they were able to sign Mykhailo Mudryk earlier this month.

Benfica is adamant about receiving a sum of €120 million (£105.4 million) in accordance with their release clause, therefore it looks that Enzo Fernandez is pushing for a move from Benfica to Chelsea.

Despite having publicly pledged his allegiance to Benfica after scoring in their Portuguese Cup victory, Fernandez reportedly has changed his mind and is eager to sign with Chelsea before the transfer market ends on Tuesday night.

Additionally, Chelsea hierarchy members are traveling to Lisbon to enable direct negotiations with Benfica in an effort to reach a deal before the deadline.

However, when asked whether he thought Fernandez will stay at Benfica last week, head coach Roger Schmidt responded with optimism, stating that Enzo is content and “not thinking about anything else.”

Recall that as Chelsea prepares a new offer for the Argentina star, Enzo Fernandez is said to have informed Chelsea that he won’t try to leave Benfica this month.

Earlier this month, Fernandez was keen to sign with Chelsea, but now he is content to stay at Benfica until the end of the season, according to Portuguese media outlet Record via Metro.
