Thiago Silva acknowledges that his career is reaching its conclusion and has revealed that discussions about a new contract with Chelsea are yet to take place.
The 39-year-old defender, who joined Chelsea in 2020 from Paris Saint-Germain, has played a crucial role in the team, featuring in 141 games and contributing to three trophy victories, including the 2021 Champions League. Despite his significance, with his contract set to expire in June, Silva remains focused on the present.
“I don’t have anything scheduled for later; I’m just looking to have fun,” Silva commented after helping Chelsea secure a place in the Carabao Cup final by defeating Middlesbrough on Tuesday. “We know it’s almost over, but it’s not the end yet. So pick the right time. I’m still able to maintain a good performance; my numbers are good, and this gives me peace of mind to continue. Now, the future belongs to God.”

He added, “Let’s finish well here in these four months and see what happens going forward, but I’m super relaxed about that.”
Chelsea is set to face Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley on February 25, 2024. This match could potentially be Silva’s last opportunity to lift a domestic cup title in England if he decides to leave the club this summer. The Brazilian has experienced defeat in all three of his domestic cup finals with Chelsea so far, twice in the FA Cup and once in the Carabao Cup.
