Xavi maintains his stance on departing Barcelona at the end of the season.
The Blaugrana head coach announced his intention to step down in January, citing stress as a primary reason for his departure amid media scrutiny of his credentials.
Despite Barcelona’s remarkable resurgence in form since then, including a recent 3-2 victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League quarter-final first leg, Xavi remains steadfast in his decision.

Acknowledging previous experiences, Xavi noted the tranquility that follows such decisions. Despite public calls for him to reconsider, including appeals from club officials and midfielder Pedri, Xavi affirms that his decision is final.
“This has happened to me before,” Xavi reflected. “After the decision, there is more tranquility in the environment. The club, the journalists, and I are calmer knowing that I have an expiration date. It was the correct decision. My decision is not going to change.”
He emphasized the importance of peace of mind for the club’s stability and reiterated his commitment to leaving for the club’s benefit.
When pressed on the possibility of a change of heart, Xavi remained resolute, emphasizing that his decision remains unchanged.
With Xavi determined to depart, Barcelona will now focus on securing a new manager before the start of the next season. While Sporting CP’s Ruben Amorim was considered, his costly release clause makes a deal improbable. Instead, Barcelona is expected to target an unemployed manager this summer to avoid compensation payments.
