Wrexham’s hopes for promotion took an unexpected blow as Tranmere Rovers clinched a surprising 1-0 victory at the Racecourse Ground.

Despite the setback, Wrexham maintains their position in the final automatic promotion spot, edging ahead of Milton Keynes Dons on goal difference. They share the same points as Stockport County, who possess a superior goal difference and have two games in hand, while trailing league leaders Mansfield Town by five points.
Meanwhile, Crewe Alexandra, also in contention for automatic promotion, failed to take advantage of Wrexham’s defeat, succumbing to a 3-1 loss against MK Dons, with Matt Dennis scoring a brace and Stephen Wearne adding a third for the home side.
In League Two, promotion and relegation dynamics differ slightly from the Championship and League One, with three teams securing promotion to the division above – two automatically and one through the play-offs. However, in League Two, an additional team is granted the opportunity for promotion. Consequently, the play-offs involve teams finishing fourth to seventh in the division.
