All state employees are expected to participate in the nationwide strike at the direction of organized labor leadership, according to the Abia State Chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress.
In response to the recent attack on the National President of the NLC, Joe Ajaero, the NLC and TUC jointly announced a statewide strike action that is scheduled to start on Tuesday.
A news announcement bearing the signatures of Emma Alozie, the secretary, and Pascal Nweke, the chairman of the Abia NLC, carried this directive.

“In this regard, all workers in Abia State, both in Federal, State, and LGAs, as well as Private Sector workers, are by this notice directed to withdraw their services from Tuesday, November 14, 2023, by 0.00hrs,” the statement said. “The essence of this press release is to put all affiliates of NLC and their leadership on red alert and to urge them to begin sensitization and mobilization of their members in readiness to join the planned nationwide strike beginning from Tuesday, November 14, 2023.”
It asked every labor union to guarantee complete adherence.
