The former Juventus and Arsenal goalkeeper recently retired but has been mentioned as a possible short-term option for Barcelona after Marc-André ter Stegen’s serious knee injury. Barcelona are in need of cover until the end of the season, and Szczesny’s name has surfaced as one of several experienced free agents being considered.
Speaking to Polish media, Szczesny responded to the speculation: “It’s flattering to be linked with a club like Barcelona, but I’m still adjusting to life after football. However, if the right opportunity comes, who knows?”
Szczesny retired after leaving Juventus last summer, having enjoyed a successful career that also saw him win multiple Serie A titles and FA Cups. He joins a shortlist that includes other veterans such as Claudio Bravo and Keylor Navas, both of whom have also been linked to Barcelona as potential cover for the injured Ter Stegen.
