Award-winning Nigerian artist Wizkid, real name Ayodeji Ibrahim Blaogun, claims that rap music is dull and dead in a recent statement.
In an interview with 10 magazine, a British luxury quarterly magazine published in London, UK, Wizkid the “Essence” crooner revealed this while dragging Nigerian rappers like MI Abaga, Vector, Olamide, Reminisce, and Falz.
Recall that Wizkid, who recently expressed regret over his love life by declaring himself single and looking, released his fifth studio album, More Love Less Ego. This sent a confusing message as many believed that none of the songs on MLLE had the potential to break records like songs from “Made In Lagos,” with special emphasis on “Essence.”

Speaking on why he doesn’t like the music genre, Wizkid claimed that most of the rappers do the same thing as there is no development in the music genre noting that most of them rap on the same beats, dished out the same style among others.
Speaking in a recent interview with 10 magazine, he said: “Afrobeats is the new pop. I sold two million copies in America off of one song! Even some American artists don’t have a diamond record. If I’m being honest, I don’t listen to any other genre of music anymore.
I don’t listen to rap – that shit is boring to me. It’s d£ad now, it’s tired. These guys do the same shit, rap on the same beats and the same flows.”
