Beatrice Itubo, the Labour Party’s candidate for governor in the Rivers State general elections of 2023, has disclosed that she entered the race as a result of the alleged bigotry shown at Rivers State laborers by former governor Nyesom Wike.
Itubo claimed that the Wike administration had left the people of Rivers State in poverty when she was visited by representatives of the New Dimension for Rivers State at her rural home in Ogbakiri, in the state’s Emohua Local Government Area.
Itubo declared that no king rules eternally and pointed out that certain political gladiators are de-marketing the state. He asked these individuals to put down their swords and give the current administration a chance to govern.

“I didn’t decide to run for that 2023 election because I wanted to prove myself to Rivers people,” the woman stated.
“We have been fighting for a very long time, and when Rivers State’s most recent governor joined the team, I noticed something different.
“I witnessed genuine animosity toward Rivers State employees. I have no other words to express my disgust for someone who has chosen to remain in office for eight years while failing to advance any employees in Rivers State.
He did not make any pensioner gratuity payments for that period of time. People were returning home and retiring.
“They will leave you for about two years, and nobody will be paying you a dime, when they want to key you in your monthly pension as you retire today.”
Itubo was the state chairperson of the Nigeria Labor Congress, or NLC, which gave then-Governor Wike a hard time on matters pertaining to state government servants, prior to her announcement as the Labor Party’s candidate for governor.
