The Nigerian Airfoce (NAF) says it would continue to deploy emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI), to combat terrorism and other national security risks.
In order to guarantee the security of its communications and information systems, it also said that it will increase its investment in cutting-edge cybersecurity and encryption measures.

This was said by Air Marshall Hassan Abubakar, the Chief of Air Staff (CAS), on Wednesday, November 8 at the NAF’s Communications Information Systems (CIS) Conference opening ceremony in Abuja.

He said, “The ability of the NAF to harness the power of technology will determine its success in ensuring the highest levels of operational effectiveness and efficiency.” Artificial intelligence and other developing technologies, he said, are important to contemporary military operations.

According to Air Marshall Abubakar, the NAF’s capacity to keep an eye on Nigeria’s airspace by deploying military comprehensive radar coverage of the country is essential for supplying airpower needs for national security.

The head of the NAF stated: “A deep focus on artificial intelligence can revolutionize our ability to process data, analyze information, and make timely decisions, giving us the competitive advantage we need to succeed in operations across the nation.”

According to Air Marshal Abubakar, the CIS would help commanders plan ahead, coordinate their forces, and eventually accomplish their goals.

In line with his command philosophy, which is “to transform the NAF into an agile and resilient force that effectively meets the airpower demands of national security in all operational environments,” he stated that the conference’s theme is “Exploiting Emerging CIS Technologies for an Agile and Resilient NAF to Effectively Meet National Security Imperatives.”
