Azeez Fashola, a.k.a. Naira Marley, a Nigerian controversial artist who has been embroiled in a long-running legal battle with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, took to Twitter on Tuesday, June 13, 2022, to list various reasons why he believes some people despise him.
He claims that some people despise him because they can’t control him, some because they can’t influence him, others because he refuses to interact with them, and yet others simply despise him for who he is.
“They hate me cos they can’t control me, they hate me because they can’t influence me, they hate me because I don’t keep their company, they hate me for being me. Ha,” Naira Marley tweeted

The Soapy crooner, on the other hand, stated that he can hate them back in retribution, but that he will not do so. He advised his detractors that attacking someone whom God loves can have a negative impact on their financial well-being.
“I can hate, but I’d rather not; image hating someone God loves; you’re not fit to live for the rest of your life.”
Since his arrival in Nigeria from the United Kingdom, Naira Marley has become one of the most divisive musicians in the country. He was widely chastised in May 2021 after stating that he would like to have sex with both his mother and daughter at some point. He stated that the mother should be under 40 years old and the daughter should be 18 years old or older.
Naira Marley, who is also the president of his notorious fan base, the “Marlians,” is currently on trial for an 11-count accusation of conspiracy, possession of counterfeit credit cards, and fraud filed by the anti-graft agency against him.
