Everyone wants to be the best when they first enter a new field. They go above and above to stand out because they want to rise to the top and shine in their field more than anyone else has in that industry before.
If you’re an actor, this entails accepting any roles you come across, doing things that other actors or actresses might find awkward, and essentially doing anything to set yourself apart from the competition. But what happens when you become a recognized expert in that industry years later? Some people reflect on their trip and are content with all the choices they took in order to get there. Some other people have some regrets about some of the choices they made when they reflect on the past.
Mercy Johnson, an actress, says that when she looks back on her career, there are some choices she wishes she had taken differently. The 38-year-old actress explains why. Here are the words Mercy used in a conversation with Goldmyne.

Mercy Johnson explained why she is no longer able to perform certain actions, such as performing romantic or sexual sequences in films, by saying:
When I do that, what would the younger girls do? When you grow past a certain level, you try to go ahead and do better. For me, you don’t need people to tell you what’s right or wrong
Age is telling on me. I’ve grown past that level, I’m answerable to too many people: my husband and my kids. I hate to embarrass them in any way. My daughter is growing. She gets hold of my phone sometimes, begins to Google, and goes like, ‘Mum, my friends said…’ And they’re very inquisitive.
I don’t think it [playing nude scenes] is something I want to do to make my kids question me in any way or have something in their mind that they want to ask and they can’t.
My sense of maturity is better, my judgments are better. Some of the errors I made in the past are things that I wouldn’t do now. Some choices I made back then I wouldn’t make now.
It’s funny to think that Mercy Johnson was once admired for her versatility, especially given that she was able to take on parts that many other actors at the time would have turned down. It’s fascinating to see how having a family and the passing of time affect a person.
