Arsenal have been eyeing a new striker for several months, and their pursuit could intensify as the Premier League season draws near. Recently, the Gunners sent scouts to evaluate Viktor Gyökeres of Sporting Lisbon. They are also monitoring Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen, whose situation remains under review.

Paris Saint-Germain have been in discussions to acquire Osimhen, but negotiations with Napoli, who are demanding over £84 million, have yet to be finalized. Amid these developments, Arsenal has reportedly renewed their interest in Osimhen and sought additional information about him. Despite this, Corriere dello Sport indicates that the Gunners are currently placing greater emphasis on pursuing Gyökeres.

In terms of potential impact, Gyökeres may be a better fit for Arsenal. The Swedish forward had an outstanding season with Sporting Lisbon, scoring 43 goals and providing 15 assists. His statistical performance notably exceeds that of Osimhen, who contributed 21 goals and assists for Napoli last season. Moreover, Gyökeres has a strong fitness record, having never missed a competitive match due to injury, while Osimhen has faced recurring fitness issues.

Arsenal have not yet made a formal offer for either player, but Gyökeres’ consistent performance and durability might make him a more appealing option compared to the often-injured Osimhen. As the transfer window progresses, Arsenal’s choice will be pivotal in strengthening their attack for the upcoming season.
