Lai Mohammed, Nigeria’s Minister of Information, has stated that the proposed conditions for removing the suspension placed on Twitter will also apply to all Over-The-Top (OTT) and other social media sites in Nigeria.

Mohammed mentioned this in an interview with TVC on Monday.

He did not, however, provide the suggestions of the Federal Government’s ministerial negotiation team to engage with Twitter on the suspension.

 

Other I can say is that the recommendations we will make will be applicable not only to Twitter, but to all OTTs and other social media platforms in Nigeria.

 

We’re dealing with Twitter now; we don’t want to be dealing with Facebook tomorrow and Instagram the next day. “Our recommendations will be extensive,” Mohammed stated.

 

When asked when the Twitter ban will be lifted, the minister responded, “Last night, the ministerial committee met under my chairmanship and we examined the situation.”

 

“I want everyone to wait until the committee officially submits its reports to the president,” he said, “but things are looking very positive and rosy.”
