Wizkid, a Grammy Award winner, has spoken up about some of the problems he had as a young singer, claiming that Wande Coal helped him when he needed a place to stay.

During his recent performance at the Flytime Music Festival in Lagos, the ‘Essence’ artist made this known.
“Wande Coal was also there for me when I was making my first single,” he stated on stage. “He made me sleep in his room when I had nowhere to go.”
Wizkid also shared the stage with Wande Coal, who sang the latter’s smash song “You Bad” to the delight of the audience.
Banky W’s Empire Mates Entertainment signed the singer to a record deal in 2009. (E.M.E). After the release of ‘Holla at Your Boy,’ the lead song from his debut studio album Superstar, he shot to fame.
Wizkid’s self-titled second studio album, Ayo, was released in September 2014. Six singles were released to promote the album, including “Jaiye Jaiye.” After his contract with E.M.E expired, Wizkid left. In the year 2016,
Wizkid has gained worldwide notoriety since the release of his smash song “Essence.”
‘Essence’ was released in October 2020 as the 11th track off Wizkid’s fourth studio album, Made in Lagos.
After selling 500,000 copies of ‘Come Closer,’ Wizkid became the first African artist to be certified gold in the United States in 2020.
After his 2017 song, ‘Come Closer,’ featuring Canadian rapper Drake, was certified platinum and gold in the UK and Australia, respectively, in April, ‘Essence’ becomes his second to be certified this year.
On the Billboard Hot 100, the song reached number 16 as well.
