In their first match since the announcement, Liverpool secured a convincing 5-2 victory over Norwich City in the FA Cup fourth round on Sunday. Van Dijk, who scored during the emotional Anfield encounter, faced questions from the press post-match about his potential continuation with the club after Klopp’s departure.

Responding to the inquiry about his post-Klopp tenure at Liverpool, Van Dijk admitted, “That’s a big question. Well, I don’t know.”

Van Dijk is among several key Liverpool players whose contracts expire in the summer of 2025, a fact that was pointed out in the subsequent question he faced. Acknowledging this, he stated, “That is correct – good maths! Listen, I don’t know.”

Highlighting the significant changes ahead for Liverpool, including the departure of the managerial staff, Van Dijk emphasized the club’s substantial task in rebuilding. He expressed curiosity about the direction the club would take but refrained from offering detailed insights, stating, “So the club has a big job on its hands, and I am very curious which direction that will go in. But when that will be announced, we will see our situation. I can’t say much about it.”

Despite the uncertainties, Van Dijk underlined his current focus on being part of Jurgen Klopp’s era, expressing his satisfaction about still being involved. Looking ahead, he mentioned, “Hopefully, we have the success that we all dream of and fight for each day, and, by then, there will probably be more clarification for what the club wants for the future, and then we will see.”

With Liverpool competing on multiple fronts this season and Klopp set to conclude his tenure, Van Dijk remains committed to contributing to the team’s success, with significant opportunities for silverware in competitions like the Carabao Cup final against Chelsea and their leading position in the Premier League.
