Viktor Gyökeres, the prolific forward from Sporting CP, has reportedly declined offers from Premier League giants Arsenal and Manchester United, according to recent reports from Spain.
The 26-year-old Swedish international, who has attracted interest from top clubs across Europe, is expected to leave Sporting next summer, with Arsenal and Manchester United considered among the frontrunners for his signature.
However, El Nacional claims that Gyökeres has turned down both clubs’ approaches, a move that has reportedly caught the attention of Barcelona president Joan Laporta. Despite Robert Lewandowski’s strong form this season, Laporta is said to be interested in potentially signing Gyökeres in 2025.

Barcelona’s sporting director, Deco, acknowledged Gyökeres’ talent but clarified that the club is not actively pursuing a transfer. “Gyökeres is undoubtedly a quality player,” Deco told Mundo Deportivo. “He’s been performing exceptionally in Portugal. While we monitor many players, he’s not a priority for us right now. When the time comes to make decisions, we’ll assess our options, but discussing specific players at this stage is premature.”
This season, Gyökeres has delivered remarkable performances, contributing to 41 goals in just 25 appearances for club and country. Meanwhile, Chelsea is also rumored to be exploring a potential move for the striker as transfer speculation intensifies.
Addressing the rumors, Gyökeres has remained focused on his current club. “These are just rumors without concrete offers,” he said. “I’m committed to finishing the season with Sporting, where I’m enjoying my football. There’s no pressure to make a move right now. We’ll see what the future holds.”
He also commented on his former coach, Rúben Amorim, who is now managing at Manchester United. “It’s unfortunate he left Sporting, but I respect his decision. He played a crucial role in my development here,” Gyökeres added.
