Following an upsurge in the number of cases of COVID-19’s Omicron form, the United Kingdom has implemented a travel restriction on Nigerians.
Sajid Javid, the UK Secretary of State for Health, confirmed this on his official Twitter account.

However, UK and Irish residents going from Nigeria will be permitted into the country after being quarantined for a period of time, according to Javid.
He tweeted, โIn light of the most recent data, we are taking further action to slow the incursion of the Omicron variant. From 4am on Monday, only UK/Irish citizens and residents travelling from Nigeria will be allowed entry and must isolate in a managed quarantine facility.
And from 4am on Tuesday, anyone travelling to the UK from countries not on the Red List will be required to take a pre-departure test, regardless of their vaccination status.
