Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel has asserted that the referee lacked the courage to award them a penalty in their draw with Arsenal.
The first leg of the Champions League quarter-final ended in a 2-2 stalemate at the Emirates Stadium.
Bukayo Saka opened the scoring for Arsenal with a well-placed shot, but Thomas Tuchel’s side turned the tide before halftime with goals from Leroy Sane and a Harry Kane penalty.

Leandro Trossard emerged from the bench to secure the equalizer for Arsenal.
Speaking to TNT Sports, Tuchel commented, “It was a tough match against a very strong opponent with an incredible home crowd today. The atmosphere was electric in favor of the home team.
“We showed resilience after falling behind 1-0, with a very commendable reaction. Overall, it was a great team effort. We even struck the post.
“However, I believe the referee shied away from rightfully awarding a penalty today in a rather chaotic and perplexing situation.
“He confessed on the pitch that he observed the incident but deemed the quarter-final stage insufficient grounds to grant a penalty. He acknowledged seeing the mistake made by the player.”
