won all three games this season.

WHAT OCCURED? Bayern Munich has now gone through 31 group games without suffering a loss, breaking the previous Champions League record. The Bavarians have won 28 games during this run while drawing only three. Leroy Sane scored two goals in Julian Nagelsmann’s team’s annihilation of Viktoria Plzen, and Serge Gnabry, Sadio Mane, and Jean-Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting all contributed.

THE BIGGER PICTURE: Bayern is now in first place with nine points out of a possible nine so far this season, despite being part of the so-called “group of death” with Barcelona and Inter.

Additionally, Bayern Munich’s most recent group-stage defeat came against PSG in 2017. In the end, they were defeated 3-0 in Paris, but they have subsequently been in outstanding form.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR BAYERN: If Bayern wins against Viktoria Plzen the following week, they will almost certainly advance to the next round of the competition. They may rest some of their best players in preparation for a demanding autumn schedule, though it is unlikely they would let up on the gas.

The whole way?
