Tests will establish the severity.
WHAT OCCURED? Barcelona has revealed that Danish international Christensen suffered ligament damage in their 1-0 Champions League loss at San Siro, dealing another defensive injury blow to the team. Tests will now be conducted by the Blaugrana to ascertain the full extent of the damage.
THE BIGGER PICTURE: Jules Kounde and Hector Bellerin, two summer acquisitions, are currently on Barcelona’s injury list. Popular Uruguayan center-back Ronald Araujo is also absent because of a major thigh problem.
Additionally, after moving from Chelsea to Camp Nou in the summer, Christensen has made six appearances for Barcelona in all competitions. Although he has started each Champions League game, he may now be in a race against time to be well enough to represent Spain at the 2022 World Cup.
WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO CHRISTENSEN? Christensen is destined to miss Barcelona’s upcoming La Liga match against Celta Vigo on Sunday, and depending on the extent of his injury, he might also miss their follow-up Champions League match against Inter on October 12.
