Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has disclosed that his Manchester City counterpart, Pep Guardiola, entered the dressing room to commend them following their Champions League quarter-final defeat on Wednesday.

The LaLiga champions required a penalty shoot-out to oust City after the tie concluded 1-1 (4-4 on aggregate) at the Etihad. Bernardo Silva and Mateo Kovacic missed for Guardiola’s side, while Luka Modric missed for Real.

Nonetheless, it’s Los Blancos who advanced to face Bayern Munich in the competition’s semi-final.

“This is possibly the only way to come to City and emerge victorious. You toil, you sacrifice, and you win however you can. Pep Guardiola is a gentleman, always has been. He congratulated us, wished us good luck, and that’s the mark of a true gentleman,” Ancelotti told Movistar.
