The Federal Government has stated that the Twitter ban will be revoked as soon as possible.
Lai Mohammed, the Minister of Information and Culture, stated this to State House media during the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting on Wednesday.

President Muhammadu Buhari presided over the meeting, which took place in the First Lady’s Conference Room at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
It’s been 100 days since Nigeria’s Buhari-led government banned Twitter for removing the President’s controversial post about the Indigenous People of Biafra.
On August 11, the government also stated that “the prohibition will be lifted soon.”
“The end for peaceful resolution is very much in sight,” Mohammed remarked when asked for an update on the ban and ongoing conversations with Twitter. Nigerians’ patience is something we admire. I’d like to reassure you that we’ve made incredible progress. We’ve had physical and written encounters with Twitter. We’re nearly there.
The relationship has been exceedingly nice and acrimonious-free. We’ve stated our expectations of Twitter.”
According to the Minister, one of the conditions imposed by the Federal Government is for Twitter to have a legal presence in Nigeria by establishing as a Nigerian corporation with a physical address.
But, after the FEC meeting claimed it was only a matter of days, Mohammed repeated the same promise while fielding queries from journalists about the latest development on the subject.
“Thank you so much,” he said. Even Twitter, I believe, provided a status report on our discussions with them two days ago. And, if I may quote them correctly, I believe it was both useful and respectful.
And how soon is soon, exactly? I want to reassure you that the time between when Twitter’s operations were interrupted and when they were restored will be far, far shorter. I can promise you that it is by a long shot. In other words, if the operation has been halted for around 100 days, I can assure you that we are just talking about a few more days.
We’re attempting to make the modifications that have been occurring, but we must first dot the i’s and cross the t’s. I can promise you that we are aware of Nigerians’ concerns, and both parties are working diligently to resolve the situation. And, as Twitter has stated, the modifications have been extremely productive.
