In a recent interview with BBC News Yoruba, veteran actor Alhaji Kareem Adepoju, popularly known as Baba Wande, made a surprising revelation about his experience working with renowned cinematographer Tunde Kelani. Baba Wande alleged that Kelani betrayed their verbal agreement during the production of the Yoruba movie titled “Ti Oluwa Nile,” which has caused a delay in the release of the movie’s second part.

According to Baba Wande, he and Tunde Kelani had a gentleman’s agreement stating that he would receive 30% of the profits generated from the first part of the movie. However, it seems that this agreement was not honored by Kelani, leading to the unfortunate dispute between the two industry veterans.

It remains to be seen how this situation will be resolved and whether the release of the second part of “Ti Oluwa Nile” will proceed as planned. As the details of the situation continue to unfold, the Nigerian film industry and fans of both Baba Wande and Tunde Kelani eagerly await further updates and clarification regarding this unfortunate incident.

I was taken aback and deeply disheartened when I received a mere N15,000 from Kelani’s manager as my share of the N180,000 we earned from the initial sale. Baba Wande expressed that Tunde Kelani, his close friend, provided an excuse that certain individuals had to receive a portion of the profits. This behavior from the renowned cinematographer did not inspire me to proceed with Part 2, which serves as the concluding chapter.

When asked about the rationale behind his decision to release Part 2, Baba Wande emphasized that it would be unfair to his fans if they were left unaware of how the film concluded. He further advised aspiring actors and actresses to create movies that would retain their relevance for years to come, instead of resorting to promoting societal nudity.
