Bayern Munich’s head coach, Thomas Tuchel, confirmed his departure from the club at the season’s end, citing failure to reach agreement on contract terms.
The decision came amid Bayern’s February struggles, losing three consecutive matches and trailing eventual champions Bayer Leverkusen by eight points. Despite a strong Champions League run, ending narrowly against Real Madrid in the semi-finals, and challenges in finding a replacement, Tuchel’s departure was finalized.
While discussions were held about Tuchel staying, he affirmed his exit after the final match against Hoffenheim, stating, “We couldn’t agree on terms.”

Tuchel’s initial contract, slated until 2025, was cut short by this decision. Reports suggested he sought an extension until 2026.
Leverkusen’s Bundesliga victory, led by former Bayern player Xabi Alonso, ended Munich’s 11-year title dominance. Tuchel expressed a preference to stay, but the search for a successor, including candidates like Alonso, Julian Nagelsmann, and Ralf Rangnick, proved futile as they reportedly declined offers.
