Trent Alexander-Arnold is reportedly considering a summer move to Real Madrid once his contract with Liverpool expires. The defender is in the final year of his deal at Anfield, and with no new agreement reached, speculation about his future has grown. As the possibility of negotiating a pre-contract with foreign clubs approaches, Madrid’s interest is becoming more apparent.

The Spanish giants are reportedly seeking a new right-back, and Alexander-Arnold’s close relationship with Jude Bellingham, whose move to Madrid has been a resounding success, adds fuel to the rumors. Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has also voiced concerns over Alexander-Arnold’s potential switch to Madrid, particularly given the player’s ambition to win the Ballon d’Or.

According to Spanish outlet AS, Alexander-Arnold and his representatives are aware of Madrid’s interest and find the idea of a move appealing, though no final decision on his future at Liverpool has been made yet. Itโ€™s understood that Madrid are keeping a close eye on the situation and will be alerted if other clubs start to rival their pursuit.

Real Madridโ€™s intention is to sign Alexander-Arnold on a free transfer next summer, without making any moves in the January transfer window. However, should the England international agree to new terms with Liverpool, Madrid are said to have alternative options in mind. Tottenhamโ€™s Pedro Porro and Bayer Leverkusenโ€™s Jeremie Frimpong are among their targets, though both would likely command hefty transfer feesโ€”Porro around โ‚ฌ45m (ยฃ37.8m) and Frimpong even higher at โ‚ฌ50m (ยฃ42m).

Madridโ€™s need for a new right-back is urgent, with veteran Dani Carvajal ruled out for the remainder of this season and potentially missing the start of the 2025/26 campaign following an ACL injury. Carvajal’s contract was extended for another year after his injury, but he will be nearly 34 by the time he recovers. Meanwhile, Lucas Vazquez, who is filling in at right-back, is also 33 and not a natural fit for the position.
