Transfer market expert David Ornstein sheds light on Manchester United’s pursuit of Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise, who has attracted attention as a potential replacement for Brazilian international Antony.
With 15 goal involvements in the league, outshining Manchester United’s current forwards, Olise has captured the interest of co-owner Jim Ratcliffe, who seeks to bring the 22-year-old to Old Trafford.
Questions arose following Olise’s agent, Glen Tweneboah, receiving a ban from the English FA, sparking speculation on its potential impact on Olise’s summer transfer. Ornstein clarifies that the ban, effective from October, will not impede the transfer process.

However, he points out that formal negotiations between Crystal Palace and interested parties, including Manchester United, have yet to commence.
In a Q&A session with The Athletic, also reported by CaughtOffside, Ornstein remarks, “There’s significant interest in Olise – including from Manchester United – suggesting a move could be plausible. The agent’s ban, starting in October, won’t be a barrier.”
However, he emphasizes that concrete talks or advancements between potential suitors and Crystal Palace are lacking, with the outcome uncertain, similar to last summer’s situation with Chelsea.
Olise, known for his thoughtful decision-making, won’t depart unless it aligns with both his and Palace’s interests. While a reported release clause exists, estimated at around £60 million, its execution is complex and not as straightforward as paying the fee and acquiring the player.
