South African Premier Soccer League club Chippa United announced on Thursday that goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has signed a contract extension. Nwabali has agreed to a new three-year deal with the Chilli Boys.
In addition to the contract extension, Chippa United revealed that Nwabali will be the new team captain.
A statement on the club’s official website read: “We are pleased to announce that Stanley Nwabali has signed an improved three-year contract with Chippa United FC. We are incredibly proud of Stanley’s dedication and commitment to the club. His leadership on and off the field has been exemplary, and we believe he is the right person to guide our team through the challenges ahead. Therefore, Stanley will be our new team captain for the upcoming season.”

Nwabali joined Chippa United from Nigeria Premier Football League side Katsina United in 2022 and quickly established himself as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper. His impressive performances for Nigeria at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire further highlighted his capabilities.
