With Gabriel Jesus out injured, the Gunners are eager to improve their offensive options this month and want to add another forward to their ranks before the January window shuts.
Although Shakhtar are clear they want a fee in the neighborhood of the ยฃ85 million Manchester United spent on Antony, Mudryk has been on their radar since the summer.
Arsenal has been in negotiations with the Ukrainian club for weeks, but the opening offer of ยฃ35.5 million upfront with a further ยฃ17.7 million in add-ons was refused.
The Gunners have since come back with a revised offer, though it is still said to be far below Shakhtar’s asking price.
Positive news, however, comes from The Times, which claims that personal terms won’t be a problem and that Mudryk has already agreed to a five-year contract with the Gunners.
Mudryk, 21, is eager to transfer to the Emirates and Shakhtar has given Arsenal permission to speak with him about conditions, indicating that a deal may be close.
Mudryk posted updates on his Instagram page while he watched the Gunners’ most recent two Premier League games against Brighton and West Ham. He also uploaded a highlights video of his performances with the lyrics, “Still gotta see the Gunners win the Premier League.”
In order to prepare for the start of the Ukrainian premier division, the winger is scheduled to join Shakhtar for their training camp the following week, but both the player and Arsenal want a deal to be finalized before then.
