The striker, formerly of Shebab Nasri, signed a one-year contract that will keep him with Zanaco through 2023.

We are happy to announce the signing of Nigerian striker Austine Chigozie Iheanacho, according to the release.

“The Nigerian striker joins us to strengthen our attack in the wake of recent departures in that area. Iheanancho played for Ayl Arab, Shebab Nasri, Ahli Merowe, and Hilal Fasher during the most of his football career in Sudan.

Chief Executive Officer of Zanaco Football Club Mr. Modest Hamalabbi stated the club’s joy at welcome Iheanacho to the nine-time champions of the Zambian Super League.

Given Austine’s experience and previous success in the Sudanese division, Mr. Hamalabbi stated, “We feel he will add value to the club with his arrival.”

Iheanacho and Amuneke are the Nigerian link:
Only a few days had passed when Super Eagles great Emmanuel Amunike was hired by the Bankers as a technical bench consultant before Iheanacho joined Zanaco.

The 1994 champion of the Africa Cup of Nations will try to make Iheanacho as effective as possible.

The Nigerian forward expressed his gratitude for being in Zambia and Zanaco. I’m overjoyed. I have usually watched Red Arrows and Zanaco in the Zambian Super League on DSTV.

“As a striker, I need to score goals,” the player said. “I came here to work and I will deliver what I came for.”

Zanaco’s 2022/2023 league campaign has not gotten off to a fantastic start. After two victories and three loses in five games, the Bankers are now in 12th place in the Super League standings.
