Barcelona sporting director Deco has confirmed that Marc Guiu turned down a contract offer from the club before moving to Chelsea during the summer transfer window.
Deco revealed that despite Barcelona offering Guiu an important contract and a promising project, the young player chose to join the Premier League side. “Chelsea paid the release clause, and he left. He had an old contract with a €6 million release clause. We offered him a significant contract and a plan to be a forward for Barca, but he decided to go another way,” Deco told Diario Sport.
In other transfer news, Manchester United confirmed on Friday that winger Alyssa Aherne will spend the 2024/25 season on loan at Sheffield United, a Barclays Women’s Championship club. United expressed their support for Aherne’s loan spell, stating on their website, “Everyone at the club wishes Alyssa a very successful loan spell in Yorkshire.” Aherne signed her first professional contract with Manchester United in May 2023 after making her first-team debut.
