Manchester United are looking to bring back former academy talent Angel Gomes next summer, with new manager Ruben Amorim reportedly a big admirer of the player, according to The Sun.

Gomes, now 24, began his career at United, making history as the club’s fourth-youngest ever player when he debuted at 16 years and 263 days against Crystal Palace in May 2017.

However, he struggled to secure a regular first-team spot over the following years, managing just 10 appearances across all competitions. In the summer of 2020, Gomes was released by the club.

He then joined Lille on a five-year contract and has since earned a spot in the England squad earlier this season.

With his contract at the French club set to expire at the end of the current season and no progress on a renewal, United are reportedly keen to sign Gomes on a free transfer, making him one of their key targets for next summer.
