Fatal Consequence as Super Eagles Victory Leads to Tragic Accident in Kogi
In the aftermath of the Super Eagles’ 4-2 triumph over South Africa in the African Cup of Nations on Wednesday, a young man lost his life in a road accident.
As reported by Newsmen, the victim, identified as Lukman, was riding a motorcycle with his friend on Murtala Mohamed Way in Lokoja, the capital of Kogi State, when they collided with a vehicle approaching from the opposite direction.

Eyewitnesses revealed that the duo, part of the celebratory crowd marking the victory of the Nigerian national team, had driven against traffic, resulting in the fatal crash.
Lukman, in his late twenties, tragically died on the spot, while his friend sustained serious injuries and was promptly taken to a nearby hospital.
The driver of the involved vehicle reportedly fled the scene, leaving behind the damaged car.
The police have initiated an investigation into the incident and have urged the public to provide any information that may lead to the apprehension of the driver.
Lukman’s funeral took place in accordance with Islamic rites in the Kabawa area of Lokoja on Thursday.
The Super Eagles’ victory secured them a spot in the final of the continental tournament, where they are set to face Cote d’Ivoire on Sunday.
