In an Instagram post, Kroos stated: “So that’s it. But before I take a break and attempt to comprehend the events of the past 17 years, I want to express my heartfelt thanks to everyone who accepted me as I am.”

I appreciate all my fans worldwide for your unwavering support. Thank you to all my clubs and coaches for believing in me. To my teammates, thank you for always making me feel welcomed. To my friends, thank you for your honesty regardless of my success.
