Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly has issued a plea to fans, urging them to exercise patience as the club navigates through its current challenges and embraces its long-term vision.
Since his arrival at Stamford Bridge alongside Clearlake Capital, Boehly has served as chairman and has witnessed a significant downturn in results. Chelsea finished 12th last season and currently sits in 11th place this year, prompting frustrated fans to voice their discontent with anti-Boehly chants during matches.
In an interview with Forbes, Boehly acknowledged the prevailing sentiment among supporters but emphasized the importance of staying committed to the club’s ongoing project.

“We need to allow the process to unfold and give time for the transformation from exceptional individual players to cohesive team dynamics,” Boehly stated. “It’s encouraging to see the level of passion from our supporters. While frustrations may arise, we must remain steadfast in our approach.”
Boehly’s tenure as chairman is subject to an unusual agreement with his fellow co-owners, wherein he is expected to step down from his position in 2027. According to the arrangement, both Boehly and Clearlake will have the opportunity to designate the chairperson every five years, with Boehly initially appointing himself and Clearlake anticipated to exercise their option for a change.
Chelsea has refuted claims suggesting a rift between Boehly and Clearlake co-founders Behdad Eghbali and Jose Feliciano regarding the upcoming transition.
If Boehly remains part of the ownership group, he will have the opportunity to appoint a new chairperson in 2032, potentially reinstating himself to the role.
