Three passengers on a commercial bus were saved from an accident that happened at Anthony-Oke, Oshodi in Lagos State, according to information released by the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority.
This was revealed in a statement provided to PUNCH Metro on Thursday by Adebayo Taofiq, the Public Relations Officer for LASTMA.
A Volkswagen T4 with the license plate EPE 399 YC and a Homo truck with the license plate T -20174 LA were involved in a serious accident that resulted in the rescue of two girls and a male passenger, according to the statement.

Taofiq continued, “A preliminary investigation found that the Homo truck driver’s brakes failed, causing the commercial Volkswagen T4 bus to be crushed while it was moving.”
He reported that Abidoye Segun, a LASTMA officer, rescued the truck driver and the other three accident victims. Segun then quickly notified the Mosafejo Police Station and dispatched agents from the State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit to the area.
Before beginning any journey, both inside and outside the State, drivers of heavy-duty vehicles should always ensure that the braking system, in particular, is in good working order, according to Bakare Oki, the acting General Manager of LASTMA.
The notification stated in part, “Three commercial bus passengers were rescued by Lagos State Traffic Management Authority operators today after they were involved in a serious accident at Anthony-Oke inside Oshodi, Lagos.
In a news release, Mr. Adebayo Taofiq, the Director of LASTMA’s Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, verified that the three passengers—two female and one male—were saved from a grave accident between a Volkswagen Commercial “T4” bus (EPE 399 YC) and a “Homo” truck (T 20174 LA).
“According to the preliminary inquiry, the driver of the ‘Homo’ truck was operating carelessly when he crushed a commercial Volkswagen ‘T4’ bus while it was moving due to a brake failure.
Before the three accident victims—including the truck driver—could be rescued, Mosafejo Police Station and representatives of the State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit were notified as soon as possible by Traffic Officer Abidoye Segun (Zebra 4), who was in charge of the rescue effort.
“Tanker/truck drivers were cautioned against reckless driving and to always make sure their heavy duty vehicles are in good condition, especially the braking system, before leaving on any travel within and beyond the state by Mr. Bakare Oki, the General Manager of LASTMA, who visited the accident scene.
