Three people were killed in an accident involving a commercial bus with the license plate MUS 753 YD on Sunday after it caught fire along the Lekki road in Lagos State.
This was revealed in a statement released on Sunday and posted on the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency’s Facebook page.
The announcement claims that the deceased’s bodies have been moved to the closest morgue.

The statement said, “Today, Sunday, November 12, 2023, at Sandfill Bus-stop, inward Ozumba Mbadiwe, Victoria Island, a car accident occurred. The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, deployed its Response Team at Lekki to the scene.”
After the Response Team arrived on the scene, they found that a commercial bus with the registration number MUS 753 YD was fully involved in flames. Subsequent examinations indicated that the bus caught fire due to careless driving.
Sadly, the three people who were confined inside the bus perished from burns. The goods were packaged and given to SEHMU so they could be sent straight to the morgue. After being pulled off the road, the bus was taken to the Maroko Police Station.
Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the head of LASEMA, bemoaned the careless driving on Lagos roads but advised motorists to drive cautiously at all times and abstain from drinking and driving.
“While expressing sympathy to the families of the departed, LASEMA Permanent Secretary Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu urges drivers to exercise caution and refrain from speeding.
“He also bemoans the fact that commuter drivers constantly have a bad habit of driving carelessly and drinking alcohol while operating a vehicle.
In order to prevent the loss of life and property linked to this threat, he thus counsels everyone to drive carefully and ensure that their cars are in excellent working order before starting any journey,” the statement added.
