Before the year is over, Thiago Silva wants to discuss his contract with Chelsea to see if he will be part of their plans moving forward.

Due to his elderly age and the demands of the Premier League, there were doubts regarding the Brazilian international’s lifespan when the Blues signed him in 2020.

Silva is still Chelsea’s first-choice center-back despite turning 38 in September and participating in the bulk of Premier League and Champions League matches.

In total, the veteran has participated in 91 games across all leagues, nine of which were played in the 2022–2023 season under Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter.

Potter and the club’s administration must decide on his future because his current Stamford Bridge contract has less than a year left.

Silva will decide his own future because of the degree of respect he enjoys at the club, Potter claimed at a press conference on Monday before the match against Milan.

Silva did say, though, that he was eager to speak with the concerned parties as soon as possible during the same press conference.

According to The Mirror, Silva told reporters, “I can tell you that what is crucial is to continue playing at a high level and enable the team to achieve the best possible results.”

There will undoubtedly come a point when we must speak; this might be before or after the World Cup since I must know whether I will have a new contract with Chelsea in order to make arrangements for my family.

“I’ll have to make a decision if I don’t have a new contract. My family must make a significant choice here. We’ll have to wait and see.

Regarding a potential return to the team where he won the Serie A championship from 2009 to 2012, Silva was also questioned.

Although Silva could not completely rule out a reunion with I Rossoneri, he did say that a second stay was unlikely, especially given that the teams were playing in a crucial game.
